How does the snow plough driver get to work?

They work in conjunction with the weather”person”. When there is a prediction of snowfall in an amount that they would be needed they are “called in” prior to the snow falling. It’s not unusual here in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada for snowplow operators to work 48 hours or more straight during a snowstorm keeping the major traffic arteries open. One of the biggest “beefs” most residents have is that the plows aren’t on the roads soon enough. Many places, due to budgets, try to save money by holding back the plows as long as possible. The bigger problem to plowing is sanding (many places salting). During light snowfalls the streets can become treacherous very quickly and are the cause of a lot of fender benders and more serious accidents because the sanding trucks are not out soon enough. I have even had the odd occasion where “tricked out” 4X4s (like mine) and even snowmobiles were used to pick up replacement drivers during extended periods of very heavy snowfalls. I hope that helps you.
