If i’m guessing right you are taking a zology course. Human bones are usually not referred to as light weight, but a good example of light weight bones would be bird bones. They need to have light bones to reduce the amount of energy they spend when they are in flight. Bird bones are extreamly light because they are very porous. Not only do the pours of the bones decrease the weight, but they also contain air sacs to provide a source of oxygen to the muscles. The reason they need this extra air sac is because the motion of flight is so extraneous that it depletes the oxygen in the muscles very quick.
