How easy is it to FAKE a whiplash injury?
The difficulty with genuine whiplash injuries is that the pain seldom comes on until several hours after the injury. However, I would certainly be surprised if he had no pain at all for a couple of days and then developed pain. Severe whiplash can be demonstrated on an x-ray of the neck as the muscle spasm causes the neck to appear unusually straight when viewed from the lateral view. I wonder if he has even sought any medical advice, if he has not seen anyone yet, his injury would be hard to substantiate. The usual advice that I would give is to speak to your insurance company, however, if you do that, you won’t be able to deny that an incident took place. There is no easy answer unfortunately. Even if he does claim, your insurance would sort it out but that does ultimately lead to higher premiums for all of us.
