How easy is it to grow huge sunflowers?
I’ve wanted to do exactly what you are asking about for many years… but have not. However, I have grown tall sunflowers against my house and it look fantastic and as everyone is saying, it’s so easy. Basically, loosen some soil, layer some compost or manure on the area, cover with a bit of soil, and poke some of the seed in. As easy as you’ll get for growing anything! However, it’s likely that if you are using them as a block, they’ll be getting a bit of wind. You might want to fashion some sort of stakes to keep them from falling over in a big gust. That can be as complicated or as easy as you want. The easy route might be to hammer some stakes into the ground and string something along them as a support. Depending on how tall the type of sunflower you choose will determine the height. I’m making a guesstimate here, but I’d say maybe halfway up the height that the flowers will be.
