How effective is Sea Buckthorn oil in alleviating the pain associated with mouth ulcers (canker sores) and in accelerating their healing?
A mouth ulcer or canker sore is a painful open sore inside the mouth caused by a break in the mucous membrane. The condition is also called aphthous stomatitis or aphthous ulcer, especially if there are multiple or recurring sores. For many centuries, Sea Buckthorn and its all-natural healing oil have been successfully used to treat canker sores and other mucous-membrane-related disorders. When used for treating canker sores, it starts working on contact by providing a potent analgesic (pain relieving) and anti-microbial effect. In addition, it considerably speeds up the healing process through its unique tissue-regenerating action. Sea Buckthorn oil was used on a massive scale for pain relief and treatment of radiation-induced mucositis (mouth sores) in victims of the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear accident. It has also been used by Russian cosmonauts for protection against radiation-related mucosal damage in space.
