New? Aricept was approved for treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease in 1996. My mother took it from about 1999 until her death in 2001. There was no benefit as far as I can tell. Maybe it helps some other people, but I don’t think it helped my mother. I doubt if she really had Alzheimers’s Disease though. I think she had Vascular Dementia.
