How far did weaknesses in the Leagues organization make failure inevitable?
The League of Nations was created in order to prevent a future war, which obviously did not fulfill its purpose. First of all, the League’s structure prevented any collective action of the nations because it required an unanimous vote of its nine, later fifteen, members to enact a resolution. Because of this, it was also slow to come to a decision that required the unanimous consent of the whole assembly. This problem arose because countries were not willing to let its fate be left to other countries. Also, there wasn’t enough representation in the League because most of the nations did not join it.
