How far do tree huggers say that inherited guilt should go?

Your question is well put. I suspect (not being a tree-hugger) that as long as we are living like animals, they will be content that we are not earning any fresh guilt and once the planet is cleaned up (which it can do by itself given enough time) the past can be safely forgotten. But I might not understand their tree-hugger logic so I could be all wrong. I don’t think they want us to go completely extinct, so long as the vital spark of consciousness (which is what is aware of, or feels, guilt) is extinguished. Having made guilt go away, they can rest easy, having completely severed the link between humans and The Creator; which we know as conscience. Anything having that ‘science’ word in it, which is Latin for “knowing”. I think the nature-lovers basically want to remove awareness of God so they can live like animals, which I think explains why San Francisco is so liberal.
