how far is 1/2 marathon?


A 1/2 marathon is 13.1 miles, half of a full marathon of 26.2 miles. You definitley need to train to run or walk one and there are many training schedules out there. Prevention has a training schedule for half marathon: or you can google “walk a half marathon” Most half marathons and marathons are running events. There are lot of runners at these running events but there are many walkers too. Walkers are able to do them based on each race’s allowed time frame. Prevention has selected road races that have generous time limits that will accomdate walkers. So by choosing a Prevention race you know it will be walker friendly. If you are thinking of another race, you must carefully check the time limit for that race.
