How far will the water levels of the Earth Rise in the next 10 Years?
If the Greenland Ice pack thaws as fast as the north pole ice has thawed then the oceans will rise about 24″. If the South Pole ice sheet thaws along with the rest then we can expect anywhere from and additional 36″ to 58″ according to some estimate. What will add most to the increase in the rise of the water levels will be the heating of the oceans themselves. Water expands when heated. Without the ice caps to cool the oceans waters the oceans will continue to head up. They have only model estimates but at to the above something like 48-60 inches. So a possible grand total rise of between 108″ and 142″ That equates to 8 feet to almost 12 feet increase in water levels. What will that do?? The best graphics of this can be found on the NOAA website or USGS websites and look at their maps of elevations of the coast lines. Almost every low elevation cities in the world will be under water. Most of the states of Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and some of Texas will be under water.
