How is a literary analysis different from a book report?

Just remember a literary analysis should not summarize the book for the reader, or give your opinion of whether or not you liked it or would recommend it to someone.In a literary analysis you are breaking down the parts of the story, or play or poem, looking at how these parts work separately and together.
