How Is Aquafina Water Purified?
Pre-filtration Aquafina water is initially gathered from a public water source (generally referred to as “tap water”) and then enters a pre-filtration process that begins to remove the particles that slip through the cracks in the public filtration service. The water is then processed through a polishing filter which further filters the water, eliminating any smaller particles not caught in the pre-filtration process. Pre-purification The public water then enters a housing unit which is blasted with UV light. UV light damages the DNA of the bacteria by attacking the nucleic bonds — either rendering them disjointed or unable to reproduce correctly. This is a vital step in the filtration as it both kills bacteria in the water and ceases their production. The water then undergoes reverse osmosis, a process that removes solid particles by forcing the water through a membrane in the opposite direction to which it is normally accustomed. Final Purification The water then passes through a ca
