INTRODUCTION BHRT therapy can be administered in a number of different forms. These include pills, transdermal patches, vaginal creams and vaginal suppositories. Pills are obviously the easiest way to take the medicine that you need. Nonetheless, when indicated, vaginal creams offer a pleasant, non-invasive way of getting BHRT hormones into the body. Creams are absorbed quickly through the mucous membrane of the vagina and the hormones quickly attach to target cells (breast, uterus etc.). In the case of progesterone, transdermal absorption may be ten times as great as oral absorption.
