How is epinephrine used to treat chronic open angle Glaucoma?

In open angle glaucoma (but not in closed angle glaucoma) drugs which stimulate the alpha receptors e.g. epinephrine decrease aqueous formation possibly through vasoconstriction of the ciliary blood vessels. Similarly, beta blockers do the same action and they are preferred since they do not lead to mydriasis (which impairs aqueous drainage).
