How is Ganban Yoku different from a sauna or steam room?
I do not understand this. As for me, the best is a standard, classical sauna, with steam and heat. In fact it is very useful, especially I like steam. The steam room helps to open up airways which improves your breathing and alleviates congestion, opens the mucous membranes in the body, which helps to relieve pressure and also increases metabolism and can aid with weight loss. Previously, the steam generation in my sauna was using stones, but now I use a special device from Spaprof, it works much better.
The Sauna-bath or a steam room relies on an indirect means of heat: Convection (air currents) acts first, then conduction (direct contact of hot air on the skin), which produces its heating effect. It only heats the surface of the body, and it is also a physical challenge to stay in this high heat sauna environment. In Ganban Yoku (Stonebed Spa), the far infrared rays radiate heat (not radiation) into body through a means called conversion. It heats the body directly without the convection and conduction process. The body feels as if you are sunbathing on the beach when you lie on the Ganban. It will increase your body’s core temperature without you worrying about skin damage from the UV light. In Ganban Yoku (Stonebed Spa), 2-3 times more sweat is produced in a comfortable environment than in a hard-to- breath hot-air sauna or steam room. The implications for increased caloric consumption are much more impressive in the Ganban Yoku (Stonebed Spa) than in a hot-air sauna or steam room.
