How is Pumice Formed?
Pumice is formed is through volcanic processes. Pumice is an igneous rock. Igneous rocks are formed when volcanoes erupt. Beneath the earth’s surface is hot, molten rock called magma. This magma erupts; once it reaches the earth’s surface, we call it lava. This lava cools and hardens to form igneous rock. Pumice is a porous igneous rock formed through this process.
