A wonderful idea. I think that the best way to travel through Europe is to stay in Formule 1 hotels. Price is around 20 Euro per room for up to 3-4 people. Check out their website at http://www.hotelformule1.com/formule1/gb… For Italy, they don’t have this hotel, but Premiere Classe is similar http://webbooking.louvre-hotels.fr/?s=PC… And it is safe here to travel, just like in any country, don’t go into the bad neighbourhoods of large cities…
