Damn, okay, I haven’t seen a good answer for the No. 4 and 5 SMLE (they use the same action). 1) Flip up rear sight 2) open and pull bold back ALMOST ’till it stops 3) There is a little spring loaded rectangular button on the rt side of the action about .5″ from where the bolt head will be stopped … push it in and pull the bolt all the way back. The button will now be UNDER the bolt. 4) Rotate the bold head CCW until it’s atraight up 5) Bolt will easily come out the back. If not, pull the trigger. Shoot! JD had the same answer.
