How is the decision made which Ponies to retire?
A variety of factors figure into the selection of which Ponies to retire. Not all came from the first release; some came from the second. It was really a matter of inventory. We knew we wanted to initiate a retirement program in the spring of 2004 in order to establish the value of the Ponies as collectibles that would increase in worth, so we took a look at our inventory situation and decided that rather than reorder these Ponies, we would retire them. Some were selling very well when we made this decision. We will probably retire at least four more within a year.
