How is the NanoSynth different from a QS6 and other QS synths?
Many of the programs in the NanoSynth are from the QS6, but many are new and some are from other sources, such as the extra QS6 “QEssence” banks. Comparing the program names shows that of the 639 patches in the NanoSynth (the 640th patch is “Off”), 274 of the NanoSynth programs are in the QS6, 333 are new to the NanoSynth, and 32 are in the QEssence banks. (This information is useful only if program names have not been changed or reused between the QS6 and the NanoSynth.) In addition, the banks and programs are numbered quite differently. In the QS6/7/8/R, the User bank is bank 0, the General MIDI bank is bank 4, and the Preset banks are banks 1, 2, and 3. In the NanoSynth, bank 0 is General MIDI, bank 1 is the User bank, and the Preset banks are banks 2, 3, and 4. The preset and initial user programs are arranged in groups of 8, following the General MIDI pattern, instead of the groups of 10 programs used in the QS6/7/8/R. So a QS6 sequence that uses only program and bank changes is n
