The Nepali paint industry is growing. The market has grown by 10-15 percent compared to last year. The size of this industry, I think, is between Rs. 1.5-2 billion. Of the total market, domestic brands have a market share of 80 percent. Though there are 25 paint manufacturers, the top players in the market are Asian Paints, Pashupati Paints, Shalimar Paints, Nepal Paints and Berger Paints. How is Pashupati Paints doing in the market? We’ve been doing well for the last three years. We’re fighting with multi-national brands in the market. Asian Paints is still number one, but we’re fast catching up with Berger Paints, the number two. Innovations in marketing and products has boosted our sales and position in the market during these years. Through the combination of better distribution, a better sales team and better promotion, we’ve been able to increase our market by 25-30 percent last year. And we hope to maintain it this year also.
