How is the Queen Creek Fire Department educating the public about fire prevention?

As October is National Fire Prevention month, the Queen Creek Fire Department partners with schools in the Queen Creek area to teach our children about fire safety. During the month of October, Queen Creek fire crews will visit local elementary school classrooms and share fire safety information covering a variety of topics, including: • Smoke detectors: how they work, what you should do when the smoke detector is sounding, and preventative maintenance • Fire safety evacuation plans: knowing at least two ways out of the house, identifing who will call 911, and locating a central meeting place once outside • Job of a firefighter: things a firefighter uses when putting out a fire, including seeing the fire gear that is worn and a tour of a fire truck At the schools, Queen Creek fire crews hand out coloring books, pencils and other educational materials about fire prevention.
