How long after a miscarriage (ectopic pregnancy) can you try to get pregnant?

0

I had a missed miscarriage at 10+ weeks and had a D&C. I also lost a baby at 19 weeks and had a D&E. Both times my doctor told me that as soon as I got my period I could start trying again. It is an old school way of thinking to wait X amount of cycles before trying again. There is no medical evidence to support that waiting will improve the outcome of the next pregnancy. Past pregnancy do not influence future pregnancies. (Unless of course you have a medical problem that needs to be corrected first.) Most women who have had one ectopic pregnancy are later able to have a normal pregnancy. A repeated ectopic pregnancy may occur in 10 – 20% of cases. If you’ve had an ectopic pregnancy, talk to your health care provider before conceiving again. When you become pregnant, he or she will carefully monitor your condition to make sure your pregnancy is progressing normally.
