How long after taking Vicodin should you wait before you can drink alcohol safely?
I hope you will do the smart thing and just wait to drink booze again until the pain or other condition that is bothering you so much that you need Vicodin subsides. It has to do with the acetaminophen that it’s combined with…that’s difficult on your liver’s metabolism, and the alcohol is brutal for that, too. So, the real reason for it is that the alcohol and the Vicodin (combined with acetaminophen) is too much for your liver to handle all at once. You may not consume ANY alcohol at ANY time while taking Vicodin, until it clears your body. That takes at least 24 hours for a single dose. (Just because you can take another dose after 6 hours does not mean the drug has cleared your body in that time.) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I just whipped out my handy-dandy bottle of Vicodin. It has 4 warning labels, applied in this order: (the first two are shown completely in Caps; I’m not shouting.) 1) CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE. DANGEROUS UNLESS USED AS DIRECTED.
