How Long Before Whiplash Symptoms Start?
If you have suffered a whiplash injury as a result of a road traffic accident the symptoms of your whiplash injury may not be obvious and identifiable straight away. The symptoms of whiplash can often take several hours, or even days, to appear. As with most injuries, any bruising or swelling that you have sustained as part of your whiplash injury will usually not be visible/apparent straight away but may take up to a couple of days to appear. On the day after the accident, it is likely that you may experience the first signs of pains and stiffness in your neck, back and/or shoulders. This pain may increase as time goes on and it is important that you visit your GP or local Accident and Emergency Department to ensure that you are receiving the correct treatment for your injuries.
