How long can any inactivated vaccine remain refrigerated while in the syringe?
NIP strongly discourages prefilling syringes. Commercial syringes are not designed for vaccine storage. At the end of the clinic day, any remaining vaccine in syringes (other than manufacturers’ prefilled syringes) should be discarded. Vaccine that has been drawn up and not administered may not be used on subsequent days. Additional information is available in the Vaccine Storage and Handling Toolkit (http://www2a.cdc.gov/vaccines/ed/shtoolkit/default.htm), Chapter 11, pages 6-8.
