How long do Cicadas usually come out for?
Periodical cicadas typically live approximately four weeks after emerging – and while most of them will emerge over the next few days, there will be stragglers. You can expect to see and hear periodical cicadas until early July. By mid-July, it will be difficult to find a live adult. Then, in August, the eggs laid by the adult cicadas will hatch and new baby cicadas – each approximately the size and color of a grain of rice – will fall to the ground and bury themselves. They will feed and develop for the next 17 years, getting ready to repeat the cycle in 2024.
