A. In general viruses like coronaviruses do not survive a long time in the environment. Scientist are unsure how long this newly discovered coronavirus can live in the environment; however some preliminary studies by researchers in Hong Kong have indicated both dried and liquid samples of the new coronavirus survived as long as 24 hours in the environment. Additional studies are under way to examine this important question. Q. Can SARS be spread from touching contaminated objects or surfaces? A. It is possible that SARS could be spread when a person touches a contaminated object or surface; however, how often this might happen, or if it happens at all, is not known at this time. Previously identified coronaviruses (scientists have reported that a new cororavirus may be the cause of SARS) have been shown to survive in the environment for as long as 3 hours and some preliminary studies by researchers in Hong Kong have indicated both dried and liquid samples of the new coronavirus survive

Good answers. It is really difficult to answer. For example I read that coronavirus may persist on surfaces for a several hours or up to several days. Just remember that you shouldn’t touch your eyes, nose or mouth before washing your hands!!! By the way if you want to check fresh statistics about Covid-19 I can share this Monitor Covid-19 service.

I’ve heard that it can survive in environments in something like 24 hours and something like 48 hours on surfaces such as clothes. That’s why this virus is so dangerous. And that’s why the recommendations of doctors all over the world looks adequate. Everyone should stay at home because of it. BTW, there are a lot of options for what to do when you’re at home. Not so long ago one of my friends sent me a list of things I can do if I’m coronavirus bored. And now I’m a poker player, LOL. Not the worst idea with my life, because poker playing brings both joy and money.

NEW! In general, enveloped viruses such as coronaviruses do not last a long time in the environment. In earlier studies, a different coronavirus was shown to survive for up to 3 hours on surfaces. At this time, it is uncertain how long the newly discovered coronavirus associated with SARS can survive in the environment. In one preliminary study, researchers in Hong Kong found that both dried and liquid samples of the new coronavirus survived as long as 24 hours in the environment. Additional studies are under way to examine this important question. Can coronaviruses be found in feces? NEW! It is not uncommon for respiratory viruses to be found in feces for a period of time. Some laboratories in the WHO network have reported finding the new coronavirus in stool specimens. Research is under way in the United States and other countries to learn more about the presence and concentration of the virus in different body fluids, including feces. Researchers also are evaluating if the virus can

That is what makes me a bit uneasy about this. From what I have studied in my Microbiology class, some “air born” type viruses can survive much longer if the air is sealed like in a container to where the conditions are favorable. Now, as they say, they are still uncertain as to how long precisely it can survive which is w
