How long do migraines last?
Mine has been going on for 22 days and counting. I get them at the same time of the month every month– they’re triggered by hormones. My grandma got them, my mom gets them, my aunt gets them– it boils down to being a genetic problem for me. I didn’t have a problem till I tried taking a birth control pill; that made the migraines unbearable and I had to go off the pill– but unfortunately the migraines didn’t disappear. For this migraine I’ve been to a walk-in clinic, the ER, then my general doctor, the ER a second time, and then I had an adverse reaction to a anti-nausea drug and was back in the ER a third time. I’ve given up on the ER curing anything, but I have been given a prescription for an awesome pain med– it’s making me somewhat out of it, but the cut on the pain is well worth it! I have found that taking a decongestant anti-histamine or Benedryl helps a lot (it cuts down on the inflammatory response in your brain), also Excedrine Migraine or Advil Migraine, and oddly, Coke
