How long do stone crabs live?
Currently, there is no precise method of determining the age of stone crabs. Age is estimated based on molt frequency and average molt increment. The age estimates suggest wild males live for seven or eight years and females live up to eight or nine years. In fished populations, it is unlikely that stone crabs will live to the maximum age.
