How long do used video games last?

About as long as new video games, unless they were abused or neglected (meaning scratches in disks, cracks in cartridges, etc). As long as they look like they’re in good shape (inside and out), they should be perfectly fine. I’ve owned a few hundred cartridge games between my Nintendo, Game Boy, Genesis, Super Nintendo, and Nintendo 64, plus I know people that still have their original Atari with games that still work just like new. I don’t think anyone’s seen a CD go bad from getting old, but really worn cartridges can get broken circuit boards or the metal contacts can get worn down…. but that would take thousands of times (if not tens of thousands) running them over the connectors. I haven’t heard of it happening yet, but theoretically, it could happen…. I imagine the deck would break long before then, but it could happen.
