How long does a double wrist fracture take to mend/ repair & how does the pain last?

You obviously suffered what is known as a displaced fracture as the fracture had to undergo a manipulation. As long as the fracture doesn’t ‘slip’ the total time in the plaster should be 6-8 weeks. After the plaster has been removed, you are likely to find that the wrist is still quite stiff and won’t feel entirely normal for some time after that. You will probably need to have repeat xrays within a fairly short period of time to check whether the fracture is still in a good position, if it has slipped, you may need to have an internal fixation of some description. The pain should start to settle within a few days of the injury. There are things that you can do to help with this. Keep your arm elevated when resting, ensure that you keep your fingers and thumb moving and take regular painkillers.
