How long does a whale shark live?
Longer than people live. Whale Sharks live around 150 years. Some live a bit shorter, and some live a bit longer. Male Whale Sharks can’t breed until they are 30 years old. Whale Sharks live almost 70 years longer than people, so imagine you’re a seventy-five year-old whale shark, an average whale shark would live another of those seventy-five years. Most people live a little over 80 years old. The oldest lady lived to be 123 years old when she died. If she was an average whale shark, she’d have another 27 years to live. Some people don’t even live to be 70 years old. Hopefully, one day more people will die of old age rather than being shot and killed by somebody, or got an illness, or smoked too much or drank too much, or got too fat or got too thin, or died in really cold weather at the South Pole or died in really hot weather in the tropics, or drowned, or got eaten by a predator, or had an accident, or something else.
