Most simple Ultrasound scans take about 15-30 minutes to be completed. Qscan MRI staff will take to you throughout the scan. If you become uncomfortable and need to move, let the MRI staff know. When the test is over, it may be necessary to wait while the images are reviewed to see if more are needed. What are the risks of an MRI? MRI itself has no harmful effects, but is not recommended during pregnancy unless under special circumstances. As outlined above, you will be asked a number of important safety questions by the Qscan MRI team before your scan. Pacemakers, some types of surgical clips in the brain (especially aneurysm clips), some artificial heart valves, bionic ears or magnetically activated pumps for chemotherapy or pain relief and some other metallic implants may malfunction in the MRI and it is not possible to have an MRI if you have any of these devices. It may be necessary to administer contrast liquid for your scan and it is important to tell your doctor and Qscan ... more

The length of time for an MRI scan varies depending on the hospital and the number of body areas that need to be scanned. On average, an MRI scan to diagnose MS will take about 30 minutes. MRI is safe and painless, but it can be an unpleasant experience for some because there is little room to move and the noises from the machine can be loud. Both of these circumstances can be unnerving if you are not prepared for them. However, MRI takes a relatively short amount of time to complete and it provides the doctor with critical information for the diagnosis of MS and for assessing treatments. more

Usually, from twenty minutes to forty-five minutes. A few very specialized exams can take longer - but rarely as long as two hours. They're noisy, and y'have to lay there inside this big, confining tunnel, but you'll have a "panic button" to hold in your hand so if you find you can't deal with the situation, you can signal the technicians and they'll get ya outa there immediately! Yo, we're there to help, not torture ya! more

Most exams take between 30 to 45 minutes. You will be told exactly how long it will take when you schedule your appointment. What type of scanner is it? Our MRI is a GE Short Bore 1.5T HDx closed unit. What can I expect? You will be asked to lie down on a scanning table that slides into a large donut shaped ring. Once you are correctly positioned, the MRI tech will go to an adjoining room. The tech will be able to see you and you will be able to communicate through an intercom system. The technologist will tell you every time the table will move and how many minutes each portion of the scan will take. As the scan begins, you will hear a knocking sound from the machine that pauses and repeats the sound. This is the sound the scanner makes when it is generating a harmless magnetic field that creates the image. Your doctor may request an injection of contrast for a more clear image of certain structures. How do I prepare for the exam? There are no special preparations, however there are ... more

What is MRI? Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a diagnostic imaging technology that uses a strong magnet and radiofrequency waves to produce pictures or "images" of your internal organs and structures. Because MRI allows your doctor to see inside your body from any angle with great clarity, it gives doctors a wealth of information more quickly and in many cases, more economically than past tests and exploratory surgeries. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE An MRI takes approximately 45 minutes. Better visit the hospital atleast one hour advance in that. more
