I am on the depo they tell you to continue using some other kind of protection for about a week that’s when it takes effect. But to be honest I always use some other kind of protection because like the pills depo is not 100% effective. And does not protect you from STD’s.

As long as you have had the injection during your last period, (or you are sure that you are not pregnant when you had it,) it is effective immediately. I have had this before.
