How long does it take synthroid to start working?

You should start feeling better almost immediately. I felt like a fog had lifted. However, messing with the thyroid is dangerous business and needs to be approached with caution. I’ve been on thyroid meds since 2003 (not synthroid, but similar). Dose changes need to be increased very gradually because their is some risk to the heart. If they start you at a very high dose, your poor heart could poop out on you. So, it’s a long process to get your TSH levels to where they need to be. We finally just got mine perfectly right about a year ago… So, five years of slowly increasing my dose. Plus, the medication can’t do it all by itself. No drug is a miracle drug. It’s not like, “Oh, I just take this pill every morning and all my troubles are solved.” I frickin’ wish it was like that! Nope. A drastic diet change is also necessary. It’s important to walk everyday for exercise, too. I’m not saying, “Oh, you need to go to the gym everyday and sweat like a dog.” Nah. Just GET a dog, lol! A dog
