How long does it take to become a ski instructor?
How long it will take is largely dependent on the resort you choose to apply to work at. I know that the certification process in France can be long (and expensive), and some resorts will require certification before hiring. Many resorts, however, will be very willing to hire inexperienced instructors and train them to teach. Your skiing ability is often only a minor part of the qualification to get hired as an instructor, as any good resort will have trainers who are able to significantly improve your skiing skills. However, no resort can teach you the sort of personality that is going to make parents feel great about leaving their kids in your hands, and that is usually the main thing that resorts are looking for in an instructor. Your best bet would be to contact some resorts at which you would be willing to work.
