How long does it take to learn to read and understand Japanese books, newspapers or business documents?
It is very difficult to say it takes an x amount of time to be able to do y. The length of time a person takes to be able to read and understand printed Japanese depends on factors such as language background, upbringing, time spent studying Japanese, desired level of proficiency, studying methods, memory, environment, age, attitude towards studying, education background so on and so on.
