How long has the council been celebrating Black History Month in Wokingham?

0

Wokingham Borough Council has been supporting and celebrating Black History Month for the past five years, starting in 2005 with a multi-cultural festival, and holding events annually since. What events have you run in the past and what has been most successful? We have always had a number of social events each year to celebrate Black History Month. In previous years there has also been a ‘Question Time’ event held in the main council chamber. This featured a panel of local representatives from the council and black, Asian, minority, ethnic (BAME) community. Have you worked with any partners or organisations when organising Black History Month in your area? Within Wokingham borough the Black History Month events are organised through the borough’s BAME Forum. This includes representation from a wide range of local ethnic backgrounds, including Afro-Caribbean, Indian, Pakistani, Chinese and Gypsy Roma Traveller.
