How long have apprenticeship programs been in existence?
Historically, apprenticeship systems in some form have existed since Ancient Greece and Rome. However, the system as we know it today, was formally organized during the Middle Ages. With the Industrial Revolution, many European craftsworkers migrated to America in the middle and late 1800’s; thus, for a generation the need for craftsworkers in America was reduced. However, by the turn of the century, skilled craftsworkers were in demand.
