How long to cook chicken breast?
If you bake it, bake at 375 degrees F for 45 minutes to 1 hour depending upon how thick the chicken pieces are and if they have bones in them. On top of the stove, boil the pieces in seasoned water for about 30-45 minutes or until tender skimming the scum off the top as it cooks – you do not want it too soft or it will turn to mush in your casserole. To season your cooking water, just put some salt, pepper, garlic powder, chopped onion, chopped celery, chopped carrots and poultry seasoning and if you have it a chicken bullion cube or two – if you do this, don’t put in the salt, then just drain the water when you are done. You can either discard it or save it for later to use to make gravy or soup.
