How long will my fasteners, connectors, and anchors last when used in pressure-treated timber?
Many environmental and other factors affect the service life of fasteners, connectors, and anchors. The test standards do not enable the test results to be translated into expected service life information. It is impossible to accurately predict the service life of any specific installation. At the time of installation my pressure-treated timber was installed dry (moisture content less than 19%) and it was installed in a condition where it will remain dry throughout its service life. What connector coating finish or material should I use? Simpson’s standard G90 galvanised connectors may be used with the following timber treatments: ACQ-C, ACQ-D (Carbonate), CBA-A, CA-B, SBX/DOT, and Zinc Borate if the timber was installed dry and will remain dry throughout its service life. If the chemical retention level in the treated timber exceeds the Ground Contact level then Stainless Steel connectors are recommended. (Ground Contact level is: 0.40 pcf (6.4 kg/m3) for ACQ, 0.41 pcf (6.56 kg/m3) f
