The first is that puppies are dogs and dogs are social creatures. Your lab misses her mom and brothers and sisters. You don’t say where the crate is – if it is in an isolated part of the house try setting it up in your room so the puppy knows she is not alone. Make sure to give her a treat when she goes in the crate, possibly even one of those toys that you put a piece of food inside for her to work on for a while. There are other things you can try if you think she is lonely. See if you can sleep on a towel a day or two so it gets your scent on it or dig up one of your unwashed t-shirts and then put that in the crate with your puppy. That way she will have your smell to keep her company. A nice stuffed animal to cuddle with can also help, as can the old fashioned “ticking” alarm clock. Another possibility is that she is getting too much sleep during the day. Keep her not only awake all day, but keep her busy with walks, games, patting and toys, especially the four hours before bedtime
