There are 361 Acupuncture Points which are recognized in the Chinese Acupuncture system which are located on the 14 Acupuncture Meridians. The Chinese system of Acupuncture is the basis for all other major Acupuncture systems in the world. The World Health Organization recognizes these 361 points as the basis of treatment. In addition to these points there are hundreds of other points (which are not considered to be located on the meridians). The use of acupuncture is based on the knowledge of the way these points are able to influence the physical and psychological experience.

The Sequence of the Acupuncture Points is important - it is part of the teaching that a trained Acupuncturist must know to use Acupuncture effectively. Acupuncture points have names and are organized according to their functional uses.

Someone trained in Chinese acupuncture may choose a set of acupuncture points that would be different from someone trained in Korean or Japanese acupuncture. Q. How many treatments do I need? A. There is no set number of treatments. It varies depending on the problem and how the body responds to the treatment. Chronic problems or any problems the patient ...  more
