How many Afghan refugees have now crossed the border into Pakistan?
The UN estimates that as many as 65,000 Afghans have crossed into Pakistan since 11 September. The largest influx of refugees, some 13,000, crossed at the Chaman border crossing in Balochistan from 19 to 21 October. Thousands more were estimated to be gathered on the Afghanistan side of the border and are being prevented from crossing by border guards, many of whom now appear to have disbursed.
