How many branches of government did the Articles of Confederation have?
The Articles of Confederation had only one branch of government, and it said that only each state was entitled to between two and seven delegates. Each state had only one vote, and it could pass laws effecting states but not individuals. The Articles of Confederation failed miserably because it said that there could not be anyone that could enforce legislation. That means that there could be no police officers, and anyone could do whatever they wanted. They could not tax either, and they could not regulate commerce either.
