How many carbs can you eat per day to be considered on a “low-carb” diet?
This site has a lot of related links on low-carb lifestyles, but has this to say about how much carbs you can eat per day: While Atkins starts people at 20 grams of daily carbohydrate, the Eades of Protein Power say 30 grams, Diana Schwarzbein of The Schwarzbein Principle says at least 60, the Zone says 100-150, and Sugar Busters would probably be around 140-200 grams. All of these are considerably under standard nutritional advice, which is generally around 250-300 grams of carbohydrate daily (depending upon calories and other factors). So you can see that it varies greatly. And as I’m sure other people will say, it varies from person to person what you need and and what benefits you. I can lose 13 lbs in 10 days on Atkins (30 grams/day) but I become irritable and stupid, have no energy, can’t concentrate or do any mental tasks at all. Sources:
