Some may have been 8ft! I had several things go wrong with my growing and harvest last year (including a late start), but despite that I still pulled around 1000 cherry toms off of 5 plants. I’m sure I could have done much better had conditions been different. One thing I noticed (hey it was my first year last year!) was that where the soil splashed on the bottom of the vine, the vine wanted to throw out roots instead of leaves and tomatoes, so I’d recommend some sort of mulching (newspaper?) around the bottom to avoid soil splash. Those plants are fairly tolerant and will take a fair amount of abuse compared to other tomato plants. Cherry tomatoes are so ncie to ‘snack’ on, and I enjoy them too. The variety you have chosen, Sweet 100 are great and the only down side of them is they tend to split if you dont pick them in time. The good part of that is, the more you pick the more are grown. I often choose larger cherry tomatoes, than pure numbers. In fact I ‘pinch off’ the flowers of many plants after I get enough for personal use and giving to friends. There is nothing worse then having dozens of Beefstake, cherry and Roma tomatoes, and nothing to do with them but eat, eat, eat! If you have too many left over, as I alway do, try this recipe out… Pimento cheese bites with cream of tomato dip – Ingredeients – Cream of Tomato Dip 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil 1/2 cup diced onion 1 large shallot, minced 1 teaspoon kosher salt 1 can (28-ounce) can whole tomatoes in juice, chopped (retain juice) 1 tablespoon tomato paste 1 cup vegetable broth 1 bay leaf 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
