LucasArts today announced that the original hilarious pirate adventure is back, with two new projects underway based on the classic Monkey Island franchise. Beginning in just a few short weeks, Telltale will premiere the Tales of Monkey Island™ game series, delivering a completely new epic storyline and swashbuckling flair that will unfold across five monthly episodes on PC and WiiWare™. The Monkey Island celebration continues later in the summer when LucasArts publishes The Secret of Monkey Island™: Special Edition, a completely re-imagined version of the first game in the series that adds updated high definition graphics, a re-mastered musical score, and full voiceover to the classic adventure game originally launched in 1990. LucasArts’ classic Monkey Island adventure series is to continue with Tales of Monkey Island, a new episodic series by Telltale Games, the publisher has announced. A revamp of The Secret of Monkey Island was also unveiled, updating the series’s first title with fully redrawn graphics, re-mastered score and full voiceover, trailered below. Tales of Monkey Island continues the adventures of hapless would-be pirate Guybrush Threepwood on PC and Wii in five monthly episodes, the first released on July 7. Telltale’s team boasts many series veterans, including designers Dave Grossman and Mike Stemmle, composer Michael Land and voice of Guybrush Dominic Armato. Screenshots and concept art give the very first look. The first installment of Telltale Games’s new five-episode series called Tales of Monkey Island comes out today. Part one is called Monkey Island: Launch of the Screaming Narwhal. (Telltale Games is the same company that recently brought us Wallace and Gromit’s Grand Adventures.) Join in on the fun as Guybrush Threepwood once again fights the evil pirate LeChuck, who has just kidnapped Guybrush’s wife, the lovely Elaine Marley. Hilarity ensues.
