First of all, the amount of horsepower allowed in an F1 car depends on what year you are examining. For example, in the early 2000’s cars could have a much higher HP than they can today. In the 90’s it was possible to have cars nearing 900HP, but today you are going to see closer to 700HP. Formula 1 changed the regulations making the cars have a smaller horsepower than they have in the past and changing the engine type qualifications for most teams. For larger budget teams like Ferrari, they are certainly effected and much change all of their engine types. For smaller budget teams they are allowed to modify their old engines.
